Through cinema and storytelling, the event will explore contemporary social realities, identities and aspirations across the continent, while creating space for dialogue on representation, culture and the power of narratives in shaping public perceptions.

The People Shall is a Kenyan documentary that captures the 2024 youth-led protests sparked by the Finance Bill and the wider civic awakening that followed. What began as online frustration quickly grew into a national movement led largely by young people demanding accountability, dignity and a voice in the country’s future.Through firsthand footage, interviews, and moments from the streets, the film follows a generation confronting power, grief, fear and hope in real time. It is both a record of a historic moment and a reflection on what happens when ordinary citizens decide they can no longer stay silent
