Synopsis :
On November 25, Sounds Jazz Club, Cinema Vendôme and Welcome To Belgium join forces for a special evening bringing cinema, jazz and hip-hop together on the big screen.
Released in 1999, Jim Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai is a cult classic starring Forest Whitaker as a solitary hitman living by the ancient code of the samurai. Somewhere between American crime cinema, Japanese philosophy and hip-hop culture, the film has become a reference in its own right, not least thanks to its original soundtrack by Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA.
THE FILM. RE-SCORED LIVE.
For this special screening, three Brussels musicians have taken on the challenge of revisiting RZA’s musical universe and creating an entirely new live interpretation of the soundtrack.
Théo Füeg (keys), Jarod Begusic (bass) and Ben Tequi (drums) have worked on a musical reinterpretation designed to accompany the film as it unfolds on screen.
This is not a concert before or after the movie. The trio performs live alongside the images, reshaping the film’s musical atmosphere through jazz, improvisation, beats and groove.
A different way to experience a cult film, where cinema and live music become one.
SOUNDS JAZZ CLUB, OUTSIDE THE CLUB.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Sounds Jazz Club takes its musical spirit beyond the club walls and into the cinema.
Together with Cinema Vendôme, one of Brussels’ landmark independent cinemas, and Welcome To Belgium, this special collaboration brings jazz, hip-hop and cinema into the same room.
